Glen Ord Distillery

After several days of heavy driving and exploring, we decided to take a lazy day and hang out and visit a local distillery. Glen Ord is one of three distilleries under the brand "The Singleton". These include Dufftown, GlenDullen, and Glen Ord. We took a tour and learned some very interesting facts about the processes that go into making Whisky. One interesting thing that we learned was that whisky makers in a certain region will give other whisky makers some of their casks to store. The reason they do this is because if something happens to the storage area (fire, flood, etc...) they will still be able to have some of their whisky to be able to bottle and sell. Without this backup system, if something happened to their warehouse, they would essentially be put out of business, because it would be 12 or so years again before they could put a product out!!
